Dr. Ben Kleinstiver, PhD

Dr. Ben Kleinstiver is a researcher at the Center for Genomic Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research focuses on CRISPR gene editing technology, especially engineering enzymes with naturally occurring CRISPR activity to optimize function and specificity. He received his Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario, and completed his postdoctoral studies at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Kleinstiver spoke to us about his research at the Center for Genomic Medicine and how his laboratory seeks to address limitations of CRISPR genome editing technologies.

Dr. Lee Lucas, PhD, RN

Dr. Lee Lucas is a critical care nurse at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. In addition, she has her PhD in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of South Florida, where she studied cancer treatment, especially the applications of electroporation in minimizing melanoma and metastasis.

Dr. Lucas spoke to us about her research, and provided invaluable career advice to students who attended the event.
